GRADE 5

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The past couple of weeks have just flown by. The Grade 5’s have been busy with many activities and excursions this term. In our first week back at school, we had the pleasure of going on the Urban Camp alongside the Grade 6’s, Year 7 and 8’s. We stayed in the suburb of Parkville, near the Melbourne Zoo. The campers got to experience many new adventures in the city of Melbourne. We visited the National Art Gallery where we saw many unique and famous artworks and we also had a sketching session. At the Chinese Museum, students extended their knowledge about the history of the Chinese peoples in Australia. The Melbourne Star allowed them to enjoy the night view of Melbourne’s skyscrapers and landscape. The State Library session about Ned Kelly and Australian History was also great fun and very informative. Further, many students got to experience travelling on public transport in the city and using Myki cards. Overall everyone had a great time and it has been a lovely experience for all whom attended.

On Wednesday 3rd May, our class participated in the Interschool Cross Country at Princess Park. They all did an amazing job running the distance and representing Sirius College. Honourable mentions go to Raihaan Syeid and Ayshanur Sherriff for both coming second in their divisions but also to all other Grade 5’s who participated and tried their best. Well done to all.

I would like to thank those parents who have been working alongside their child on the NAPLAN booklets for the past couple of weeks. We appreciate all your hard work and effort thank you.

Wishing you all the best,

Miss Funda Avan
